“I love tackling challenges and being able to solve problems for our customers—it’s deeply satisfying and gives purpose to what we do as auto mechanics.”

- Ryan Davis, Owner

At our local auto repair shop, we love helping our friends and neighbors in Lewisville, Flower Mound, Double Oak and the neighboring towns. That’s exactly why Ryan Davis opened Auto Science in February of 2011. He wanted to provide our community with a different—better—type of auto repair experience. At the time, the economy was down, and having worked at auto repair shops and dealerships while in college, he knew the auto repair business. So, he spent two years saving money, working on cars and reselling them until he had enough to rent our first garage. After only four months, he was busy enough to hire his first employee, and now our wholly-independent auto repair shop has grown to four employees and 10 bays. To this day, our local car shop continues to focus on quality and care. Whether you’re visiting us for routine auto maintenance, complex auto repair or for expert auto performance upgrades in Lewisville, Auto Science is here to help. Give us a call at 469-382-9522 to learn more about how we fix car trouble or to request a quote for the cost of auto repair in Lewisville, TX.

Your vehicle’s suspension system is key to both comfort and safety, enabling a smooth ride and stable handling on various types of terrain. Recognizing signs of a suspension problem early on can help you avoid bigger issues. At Auto Science, we provide expert suspension repair in the greater Lewisville area. Here are five warning signs of a suspension problem. Rough Rides If you’re feeling every single bump and dip in the road, it may be a sign that your suspension system is failing. The suspension is designed to absorb shock, but worn-out components like shocks or struts can’t do their job effectively, resulting in a rough ride. Vehicle “Nose-Dives” When Braking There’s cause for concern if your car seems to dip forward when you hit the brakes. This phenomenon, known as “nose-diving,” can occur when shocks are worn out, causing a noticeable forward lurch when stopping. This makes braking less effective and can increase stopping distance, compromising safety. Uneven Tire Wear If you notice uneven tire wear, it could be due to a suspension problem. When the suspension isn’t holding the car level, certain areas of the tire take on more weight and pressure, causing premature wear. This could also indicate issues with alignment, but it’s worth having the suspension checked as well. Drifting or Pulling to One Side When driving, a functioning suspension should keep your vehicle moving straight. If you notice that your car drifts or pulls to one side, especially while steering straight, it may be due to a problem with the suspension, like damaged control arms. Left unaddressed, this issue can increase tire wear and impact handling. Oily or Damaged Shocks If your shocks are oily, they may be leaking fluid, which is a common sign of wear. Damaged shocks won’t be able to absorb bumps and vibrations effectively, leading to a rougher ride and potentially more serious suspension problems. Your vehicle's transmission relies heavily on transmission fluid to keep its components lubricated and functioning properly. If a leak occurs, it can lead to severe damage, costly repairs, and even complete transmission failure if left unchecked. At Auto Science, we provide expert transmission fluid leak repair in the greater Lewisville area. Here are four signs that you may have a transmission fluid leak. Puddles Under Your Vehicle One of the most obvious signs of a transmission fluid leak is noticing reddish fluid pooling under your car. Transmission fluid typically has a slightly sweet smell, and it's usually bright red when fresh but can turn brownish when it's old. If you see such fluid stains beneath your vehicle, it could indicate a leak in the transmission system. Low Transmission Fluid Levels If your transmission fluid is consistently low, even after refilling it, a leak is the likely culprit. It’s important to routinely check your transmission fluid level (especially if you suspect a leak) by using the dipstick under the hood. If levels are dropping faster than normal, it's time to investigate further. Delayed or Slipping Gears Transmission fluid helps ensure smooth gear shifts. When fluid levels drop due to a leak, you may experience delays when shifting gears or even gear slippage, where the car unexpectedly pops out of gear or struggles to stay in gear. This symptom can lead to dangerous driving conditions and potential damage to the transmission if the leak isn't addressed quickly. Burning Smell A burning smell while driving can be a sign of transmission fluid overheating due to low levels. When there's not enough fluid to lubricate the transmission's moving parts, friction builds up, creating heat. If you notice a burning odor, especially combined with other symptoms like slipping gears, it’s important to have the mechanic check for a fluid leak. Whether you're making a sudden stop or gradually slowing down, reliable brakes are essential for safe driving. Identifying brake issues early can help prevent more significant problems and improve safety. At Auto Science, our local mechanics provide expert brake repair in the greater Lewisville, TX area. Here are five common signs of brake trouble. Squealing or Grinding Noises One of the most common signs of brake trouble is strange noises when you apply the brakes. If you hear a high-pitched squeal, it often indicates that your brake pads are worn down and need to be replaced. This noise is created by a metal indicator that's designed to alert you when the pads have worn thin. Grinding sounds, on the other hand, suggest that the brake pads have completely worn away, causing metal-to-metal contact. At this point, significant damage could occur to the rotors, which can be a more costly repair. Vibrations If you feel a vibration or pulsation while braking, it could be a sign of warped rotors. This often happens due to excessive heat, causing the rotors to wear unevenly. Warped rotors prevent your brakes from making smooth contact, which can reduce braking efficiency. Brake Pedal Feels Soft or Spongy When the brake pedal feels soft or spongy, it’s a serious indication that your brake system is compromised. This could result from air in the brake lines or a brake fluid leak. With a brake fluid leak, you’ve got a major safety hazard and should get towed to the shop instead of driving there. Pulling to One Side While Braking If your car pulls to one side when braking, this could signal a stuck brake caliper. When one side of the brakes is functioning differently from the other, it creates an imbalance that causes the vehicle to veer to one side. This is very dangerous and should be addressed as soon as possible by the mechanic. Brake Warning Light Comes On Your dashboard warning lights are there for a reason, and the brake warning light should never be ignored. This light can be triggered by several issues, such as low brake fluid or faulty wheel speed sensors. To avoid potential brake failure, it’s essential to get your brakes inspected when the light comes on.
